8 days LEMOSHO ROUTE
Discover The Most Scenic on Kilimanjaro mountain Lemosho route is an excellent choice when you climbing the mountain. Studded with panoramic visitors on various sides of the mountain, it is one of the most scenic trails on Kilimanjaro. This Kilimanjaro Route quickly rose to popularity due to its perfect balance of low crowds, beautiful scenery, and a high Kilimanjaro Success Rate.
The Lemosho Route offers a bit of everything. Enjoy the first couple of days in the forest with amazing views and scenery along the way. That’s not all, the Lemosho route allows camps over at locations with some of the best sunrises and sunsets on Mt. Kilimanjaro. This route can be climbed over 7 or 8 days. From our expertise and experience we recommend 8 days as it is better for acclimatization.
Our ‘Quest from the West’ itinerary below tackles the Lemosho route over 8 days, leading you through spectacular and unspoilt scenery and giving you an excellent chance of reaching the summit. The trail rises from the forest, opening out onto the Shira Plateau. From here you’ll be rewarded with your first up-close view of Kibo, the daunting but surmountable summit cone. Track around the south of the mountain, climbing over ridges, passing the impressive Lava Tower and scrambling the imposing Barranco Wall. These trekking days give you ample opportunity to acclimatise, as you climb higher during the day but lose height to camp. Arriving in the smaller high camp Kosovo, in time for lunch and a rest before the summit, will stand you in excellent stead for the climb ahead and give you a head start on those staying at the larger camp below. One of our favourite routes!
